Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.
I originally wrote this post after I learned the news of a shooting on yet another school campus. As a student myself I took this news to heart.
…. Another batch of students attending class, dreaming of tomorrow and diligently copying notes in hopes to pass their next exam.
We may never know what it is that brings a person to partake in such crimes and we may never be able to find a way to prevent these shootings from happening but, for those of you who followed One Tree Hill you may remember the dark days at tree hill high school, the shooter complained about no one noticing him and no one making an effort to be his friend. Maybe if we shared smiles or a conversation with a stranger we can help someone who is having troubling thoughts.
I challenge you to welcome a stranger into your circle of friends at lunch time, smile at the girl walking alone on her way to class, start a conversation in the food line in the cafeteria.
Many of us want many things in life such as, less debt, a new vehicle, more friends, a bigger house and a better job just to name a few. Here’s what I want; I want to be able to drive around safely and hope that I don’t get in an accident because someone thought texting and tweeting were more important than watching the road, I want to be able to go to the movie theaters or school with out the fear of potentially being injured or even killed, I want to be able to sleep with my windows open and not have to worry about locking up everything all the time, I want my children to be able to play in the yard and ride their bikes around town like we used to, I want to feel safe.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and loved ones of victims of school shootings and other acts of violence.
