Twenty Fifteen.

Twenty fifteen has been one of, if not the BEST year I have ever had. I’ve never had such a defining year, but this year wasn’t wonderful because of the events in 2015 but the years leading up to 2015 made it the best. My light shined in 2015. In 2014 I found myself through trials and tribulations and this year I was comfortable with who I had become. In 2015 I became a wife, a better friend, a better daughter and a better me. Growth doesn’t happen overnight and I still have growing to do, and I always will. I can honestly say that I have never been more at peace with myself and the decisions that have led me to who I am today. I want to share a list of my most defining moments with you all and some of the lessons I’ve learned this year and I encourage you to be the best version of yourself that you can be.

One of the most eye-opening things that has happened to me this year has to be the app Time Hop, I open that app every morning and for those of you who do not know what it is, it shows you past posts made from Facebook and other social media platforms on a particular day. I could can’t believe the things I used to post on Facebook, why didn’t anyone tell me how dumb or immature I was? It still pains me to think that I was once that immature, but it’s great because I know that social media isn’t the place for certain things to be posted. The fact of the matter is I do care what people think of me…to a certain extent. Everyone has a bad day, however I don’t want to be remembered for the bad post I made to Facebook because of the bad day that I had, do you understand? Enough rambling. Here are my highlights from 2015.

Though my list may be short, it is POWERFUL. To say that I sucessfully planned a wedding while working my part time job, worked on Scream Queens, maintained a 3.0 GPA, joined a weekly networking group, founded a blog, bought a camper, got married, took an acting class and still managed to grow into this person I never thought I would be amazes me and I’m sure others also.

Here comes the lesson, these things didn’t just happen. I didn’t just wake up one morning this mature adult. It took time and restraint. This success came because I worked hard and pushed myself. I wanted to become a better person, I wanted better for myself. If you don’t want to be a better person you never will. In tough times it’s easy to lash out and be mad at the world, but I realized that lashing out only hurts other and what do I gain from hurting others? Nothing, and there were times that I bit my tongue when I really didn’t want to but I had come this far and I was not going to let anything set me back. It is so difficult to not let stress consume you, and some times it did, i’m not going to lie but things only stress me out because I’m hard on yourself. I’ve been told to not be hard on myself but we live in a world where everything is sugar coated. If I wasn’t going to be hard on myself…who was?
